Mike Stevens, Janet Yee reporting.
"Boylan"

Mike Stevens: Evidence of aliens? Would you believe there was talk of that in Superior Court today? Most of it coming from a Sacramento psychologist. He is fighting to get back his medical license and as Janet Yee reports he lost it because he preaches the existence of extraterrestrials.

Richard Boylan: I believe that UFOs are moving around in our atmosphere with some frequency and that extraterrestrials have apparently visited a number of citizens in this country and elsewhere. Particularly in the last few years.

Janet Yee: Do your beliefs come into play in your practice?

Richard Boylan: No they don't.

Janet Yee: Dr. Richard Boylan denies using any form of mind control to impose his beliefs on patients.

Richard Linkert (Boylan's attorney): What was the thrust of the case was that somehow the means that the Doctor manipulated these people through hypnosis.

Janet Yee: Richard Linkert defended the Sacramento psychologist in Superior Court today asking the judge to give the therapist his license back. It was revoked six months ago.

Richard Linkert: To go from he convinced me that I was a victim of alien contact to he imposed; both of those terms are wrought with vagueness and ambiguity.

Arthur Taggart (Deputy Attorney General): Dr. Boylan's license was revoked, or his licenses were revoked, on the basis of seven determinations of issues. Only two -- two -- relate to extraterrestrial belief.

Janet Yee: Bringing the case down to earth, the Deputy Attorney General says it is about gross negligence, not extraterrestrials, that Doctor Boylan was found with patients naked in bed, nude in a hot tub, and exchanged therapy for genital massage.

Richard Linkert: I want to remind the court that Dr. Boylan grew up therapeutically in a different era. He went to Berkeley, grew up in the Bay Area at a time when, as he has testified, the nudity wasn't something that it is today.

Janet Yee: This was the closing argument for Dr. Boylan's right to practice psychology. Boylan maintains he his being portrayed as mentally impaired because he believes in extraterrestrials. The Judge says he will return a verdict as soon as humanly possible. In Sacramento, Janet Yee, FOX 40 News.
